Concurrent parent group every session
Weekly at-home social practice assignments
Graduation celebration & take-home resources
Ages 12–17

Adolescent PEERS®

The original PEERS® program. Teaches teens the unwritten rules of friendship: how to start and maintain conversations, join and exit groups, handle rejection, and navigate peer conflict. Parents attend a concurrent group each week to reinforce skills at home.

Focus on work, dating & adult friendships
Graduation celebration & take-home resources

Summer Intensive

A focused 4-week program for adolescents who want to strengthen communication and social skills over the summer. Each 90-minute session is split in two: the first half covers the skill of the day, the second half is spent engaging with peers in a variety of real social opportunities. Groups are formed by age and development. There is no accompanying parent group for this program.

Who is a good fit: Adolescents looking to enhance communication skills who are open to learning and willing to stretch in a fun and supportive environment.

The Process

How a PEERS® class works

1
Register

Fill out the enrollment form. We'll confirm your placement in the appropriate group.

2
Weekly Sessions

Attend 90-minute group sessions every week for 10 consecutive weeks.

3
Dual Groups

Participants and parents meet simultaneously — so everyone learns the same skills.

4
Practice

Between sessions: structured homework and real-world social assignments to build confidence.

5
Graduation

Celebrate progress, connect with the group, and receive resources for continued growth.

💬
Groups are capped at 8 participants. Every participant gets individualized attention — not just a seat in a room. Small group size is a core part of what makes PEERS® effective.

The Evidence

The research behind PEERS®

PEERS® — Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills — was developed at the UCLA PEERS® Clinic by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson. Unlike general social skills curricula, PEERS® is grounded in decades of rigorous clinical research and has been validated across multiple age groups, diagnoses, and cultural contexts.

The program teaches the specific, concrete behaviors that lead to real friendships — not abstract concepts. Skills are broken down step by step, practiced in a group setting, and reinforced through real-world assignments between sessions.

With over 40 peer-reviewed published studies and active use in more than 35 countries, PEERS® is one of the most extensively validated social skills interventions in the world. The skills participants gain have been shown to persist 3–5 years after the program ends.

Good Fit?

Is PEERS® right for your child?

PEERS® works best for individuals who are motivated to build friendships and are ready to put in the practice. Here's who tends to thrive:

Has difficulty making or keeping friends
Wants friends but doesn't know how to get started
Has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, anxiety, or a related condition
Struggles with the unwritten social rules peers seem to know intuitively
Finds group situations confusing or overwhelming
Has the verbal ability to participate in a group discussion
Has a parent or caregiver who can attend the concurrent parent group
No diagnosis required

A formal diagnosis is not required to enroll. The best candidates are individuals who want to build friendships and are motivated to practice. If you're unsure whether PEERS® is the right fit, reach out — we're happy to talk it through before you commit.
